Song Gidoo 송기두

The curved wooden structures that appear in Song Gidoo's work contain memories of his father from the artist's childhood.
His father collected uniquely curved pieces of wood from nature to create furniture.
For the artist, the formative characteristics of the wooden furniture he creates are an immersion and understanding of his father, who was the artist's current age when he was a child, and a connecting link.
At the same time, it is an attempt to achieve harmony between the natural forms sculpted by wind and time and his own self, which is metaphorized as an artificial structure.

송기두 작가의 작품에 등장하는 구부러진 나무 구조물에는 작가의 어린시절에 바라본 아버지에 대한 기억이 담겨 있습니다.
작가의 아버지는 자연에서 독특한 모양으로 구부러진 나무조각을 수집하여 가구를 제작했습니다.
송기두 작가에게 자신이 제작하는 목제 가구가 지닌 조형적 특징은 어린시절 지금 자신의 나이였던 아버지에 대한 몰입이자 이해이며,
연결고리이기도 합니다.
동시에 바람과 시간으로 조각된 자연의 조형과 인공적인 구조로 은유된 자신과의 조화를 이루기 위한 시도입니다.
